Base
The BASE model was just that, basic. It was came equipped with very few options.
It came standard with a 5 speed transmission
but were available with the 3spd automatic. The stereo system and air conditioning were both options.
The 1995 model arrived with grey plastic bumper covers,
and were later available with painted bumper covers. The Base models ended in 1998.
Highline
The HIGHLINE model was a upgraded version of the BASE model.
The HIGHLINE came with a stereo system, air conditiong, painted
bumper covers, and better seats including an 30/40 split folding rear seat.
Additional options were made available for the
HIGHLINE model.
Sport/Expresso
The SPORT/EXPRESSO is the top dog for 95-97 model years.
It included all the options of the HIGHLINE and had the option to be
ordered with alloy wheels, a painted rear spoiler,
and a DOHC engine that included a power bulge hood. Four wheel anti-lock
disc brakes were also available for SPORT/EXPRESSO models.
ACR
The ACR built as a ready to race Neon.
It was ready to compete in many SCCA racing and autocross events right off the showroom floor.
It was built using the base line as a standard because it was so light weight.
A/C and radio were the only optional features made available for the ACR.
An upgraded suspension package was included from the factory with Koni struts and front and rear sway bars.
The ACR was only available with standard 5-Speed transmission.
Coupes arrived with the DOHC engine only and four doors arrived with
the SOHC engine only.
R/T
The R/T was only available from 98-99.
The R/T replaced the Sport as the top of the line model.
It was based on the ACR's performance. This model only came with the DOHC engine.
The R/T only came in Black, Blue, Red, and White. Most would come
with racing stripes though some were stripeless from the factory.
